Al Shank Sez…..Marlon Brando

So as we enter our 80th year in business we celebrate the interesting…..those things that are unique to Al Shank Insurance. 

So in the 1960’s the oil and gas industry was booming and even Hollywood stars got into the action including Marlon Brando. You may have heard of him as the Godfather, or he “could’ve been a contender” in On the Waterfront, or as Colonel Kurtz in Apocalypse Now. Our founder, Al Shank Sr. got a call in Fall of 1965 from a buddy in one of the oil and gas production companies here asking if he did oil and gas bonds. Al said he did and about 15 minutes later his friend, Marlon Brando, and Marlon Brando’s attorney came into the office and signed off on the bond. And you thought insurance was always boring. 

I guess it was pretty common in those days to have investors from around the country get involved in oil and gas wells and apparently some travelled here to meet the people they were investing with and see where their money was going. Marlon Brando was one of those investors and Al Shank Sr and Al Shank Insurance…..his agent. Apparently, we “made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.” Sorry just had to go there. Since 1941….Al Shank Insurance…..Insurance as it should be from people you trust.
