Still there? Claims frustration? The good news is that the average consumer (according to finder.com) has an auto claim once every 18 years and the average homeowners (according to the Oregon Insurance Dept) has a claim once every 9 years. The bad news, since you don't have one every year, you are hardly an expert when it comes to claims, but we are at Al Shank Insurance.
There are those out there that don't see the value in an agent. They think they don't need one.............until they do. Sometimes they tell us it costs less premium to go without an agent and that is not always the truth. Usually when we hear from those people that haven't had an agent is when they have a problem. If they haven't named a agent, most insurance companies won't talk to anyone but them on a claim or that issue. So sometimes they will get really frustrated with us, angry even, and there is nothing we can do about it. So remember this. It is not always cheaper to go without an agent. Don't do that because you assume it is. Do yourself a favor and get quotes on your insurance with an agent and without one. Ask the agent why you should have an agent. What can an agent do for you? Then make an "informed" decision. It's like my doctor told me once....."Al, you need to see a cardiologist." My question back, was "why...everything is alright." and his refrain was, "you're getting older so now is the time to meet one and get to know him. You don't want to meet him for the first time in the emergency room." That made sense to me. It also makes sense with insurance agents. Do you want to try to find one to help you with a problem when you already have one.....or someone you know will help when you need them?
