Al Shank began his insurance career in 1974 with the agency. He is president of the firm and holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter and Accredited Adviser in Insurance designations.

In 1995 Al was the Southwest Daily Times Reader's Choice Favorite Insurance Agent and is an Honorary Insurance Commissioner in Oklahoma. In 2002, he was named The Southwest Daily Times Citizen of the Year. Al is a past president of the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents and has served as Director on the national board of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America. He is a graduate of Leadership Kansas and Leadership Liberal. Al has chaired the boards of Leadership Liberal, the Southwest Medical Center, International Pancake Day, Liberal Parks and Recreation, the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church, the Seward County Republican Central Committee, and the Seward County Community College Foundation. He is a member of Encompass Insurance Company’s national agents advisory panel, Northstar, and currently serves on the board of directors of the Big I Reinsurance Company, an insurance company designed to offer professional liability insurance to members of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America.

Al is a graduate of the University of Kansas and with his wife, Donna, has received the Clodfelter Award from the Alumni Association for service to local alumni. As a member of the University's 1975 Sun Bowl team he is part of the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.

He has authored numerous articles in insurance industry magazines, Agent and Broker, Rough Notes, and Kansas Insurance Agent and Broker.

He and his wife, Donna, have three children, Megan Harp, Marc Shank, and Miranda Ruland, as well as four grandchildren, Halle, Georga, Isaac, and Scout.

Donna Shank

Donna is co-owner and Vice President of the firm. She has been a licensed insurance agent since 1981 and holds the Accredited Advisor in Insurance designation (AAI). She has worked in all areas of the agency operation and currently is responsible for the agency's accounting.

Donna has been active at both the local and state levels. She is a graduate of both Leadership Liberal and Leadership Kansas. She has chaired Leadership Liberal, the Liberal-Seward County Health Board, the Liberal High School Site Council, and the MacArthur School PTA. She has been a Liberal Chamber Ambassador, on the Seward County Community College Bond Issue Committee, and is currently a member of PEO. At the state level she has served on the Hospital Closure Commission, the Kansas Council on Post Secondary Education, and the Kansas Children's Cabinet which oversees the Master Tobacco Settlement funds. She has been a member of the Kansas Board of Regents for 8 years and served twice as chair. The Regents oversee the 30+ institutions of higher education in Kansas and are appointed by the Governor. In 2010 she was elected to the board of directors of the Kansas Health Foundation, one of Kansas’ largest charitable organizations that funds worthy projects in the areas of health and leadership.

She attended Seward County Community College and Wichita State University graduating Summa Cum Laude from both institutions. She holds degrees in Political Science, and while at SCCC was honored nationally by USA Today as a first team Phi Theta Kappa Academic All American.

She and Al have three children, Megan Harp, Marc Shank, and Miranda Ruland, as well as four grandchildren, Halle, Georga, Isaac, and Scout.

Denise Boyd

Denise grew up in on a farm near Beaver, OK, and graduated from Beaver High School as Valedictorian. She and her husband Ron live in Turpin, OK.  Ron is a school teacher and has taught in Oklahoma and Kansas for 33 years.  They have four children - Tim Jason, Doug and Dede as well as 12 busy grandchildren.

Denise joined Al Shank Insurance in 1990 as a receptionist and became a licensed Oklahoma and Kansas Agent in 1991 working with personal home, auto, life, and health insurance.  She currently holds the designations of Accredited Advisor of Insurance (AAI) and Certified Professional Insurance Women (CPIW).

Denise serves as Treasurer for High Plains Insurance Women.  She has always been active in volunteer work in the community and served on several boards.  She enjoys photography, crafts, camping, and especially time spent with family and friends.

 

Sandi Edgerly

Sandi has been active in the insurance industry for the past 39 years (36 of those years in Liberal) and is a property-casualty and life-health agent.  She has obtained the Associate in Automation Management, Accredited Adviser in Insurance and Certified Professional Insurance Woman designations.  Insurance education and customer service are top priorities.  She has been a member of National Association of Insurance Women since 1978 and was instrumental in the formation of Hi Plains Insurance Association (NAIW) for the southwest Kansas area.

Sandi was named insurance person of the year for both Insurance Women of Western Kansas and Kansas Society of Insurance Women.  She currently is secretary for the board of directors of Stepping Stone Shelter.  At home she likes to spoil her dog and cats, work on construction projects, read and do handwork.

Twyla Gearhart

Twyla has been a life long resident of the Oklahoma Panhandle, graduating from Turpin High School.  She graduated from the Liberal Area Vocational Technical School and attends Seward County Community College.

Twyla joined Al Shank Insurance in 2008 as an assistant to commercial lines Customer Service Representatives.

Twyla is married to Ace, and they have two children, Rachel and Cody.  She enjoys spending time with her family, sewing, and playing the piano for church.

Rhonda Imel

Rhonda has been a lifetime resident of the Liberal area. She graduated from Southwestern Heights High School and Salt City Business College.

Her husband, Garan, works for Disco Machine and they have 2 children, Travis and Teri. Rhonda has three step-daughters: Donna, Rachelle and Karan. Rhonda and Garan are grandparents and love spending time with their grandchildren. Rhonda is a karate instructor and enjoys teaching the martial arts. She also enjoys motorcycles and spending time with her family.

Rhonda joined the staff at Al Shank Insurance in 1985. She became a licensed Kansas insurance agent in 1987 and a licensed life and health insurance agent in 1995. Rhonda is also licensed in Oklahoma. She holds a designation of Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) and is a member of Certified Professional Insurance Women (CPIW).  Rhonda currently serves as President of the High Plains Insurance Women.

Kae Krueger

Kae has been a lifetime resident of southwest Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle, graduating from Beaver High School.  She attended Seward County Community College in Liberal. 

Kae began working for Al Shank Insurance in December 2006.   She currently is treasurer of Liberal High School Booster Club and a member of the LHS After Prom Committee.  She serves as treasurer of Alpha Rho, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.  Kae also serves on the Advisory Board of The Good Samaritan Society, Liberal center.

Kae is married to Kent, who has worked for Halliburton for 30 years.  They have two children.  Kasey is a Sophomore at Seward County Community College and Kaela is a Sophomore at Liberal High School.    

Kae’s hobbies include attending and watching her children’s sporting events and various activities.  She and her family like to go boating, skiing and camping whenever possible.

Lynde has been a lifetime resident of Southwest Kansas, graduating from Satanta High School. She attended Seward County Community College in Liberal and graduated with an Associates Degree. She joined Al Shank insurance in June of 2010 as an assistant to commercial lines Customer Service Representatives.

Lynde is married to Japheth who is a Liberal Police Officer. They have two sons, Shay and Lukas. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, and watching her children play various sports.

Tina Combs

Tina grew up in Liberal, KS graduating from Liberal High School. She joined the Army National Guard in 1999 during her Senior Year in High School. After serving 9 years in the military she was Honorably Discharged allowing her more time to focus on her future and her family. She completed her bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2009, graduating Cum Laude.

Tina is married to John Combs Jr. who has actively served in the Air National Guard for 4 years, when he is not serving his country he works for OXY, USA. They have two children who make their life joyous and eventful. Their daughter Helena, 7 is actively involved in multiple sports, cheerleading, and dance. She loves to sing and enjoys being the ultimate girly-girl. Their son Connor, 3 is full of life and always makes people laugh. He is very active in sports, basketball being his favorite.

Tina enjoys spending time with her family camping, boating, and traveling to new destinations. When Tina is not with her family she enjoys running, reading, and different home improvement projects.
